Mrs. Brown’s Third Grade Class Welcome! 1

Welcome to Third Grade! In our classroom we will Be SAFE Be RESPONSIBLE Be RESPECTFUL Safe- we do not act in a manner that will harm others or ourselves. Responsible-we come to school prepared with everything we need to learn and do our job. Respect-we speak to others and work with all students in a way that is kind and supportive.

All About Me My background I grew up in Spokane, WA. I graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Masters degree. My experience This is my 17th year of teaching at CC Hardy Elementary. I have taught 6th, 5th, and 3rd.

My Goals (for your child) To love sharing their stories and writing about them. To explore and find Science around them each and every day. To want to make the world a better place by learning from the mistakes in the past. To support their classmates in a positive manner.

School Supplies TEAMS Binder – This binder is another way I can communicate with you. Glue – We glue things in our journal almost EVERYDAY! Science, Social Studies and Writing journals are a MUST! Colored pencils Scissors to cut out foldables

Class Dojo and (BLURT chart) Our classroom conduct monitor system. Points earned for behavior such as being on task, hallway, and teamwork. Points lost for talking out of turn, not prepared for class, and rudeness. Please sign up – this is a way for us to communicate quickly and you can see how your child is doing throughout the day/week.

Parent Single Sign On and teacher Website Please subscribe! This is how you will get report cards/progress reports. Important news, Home Work, Journal papers, vocabulary, download materials, etc.

Writing Next year is STAAR Writing: How can you help your child? Thank you cards Fine motor skills (writing in small spaces) Cursive writing I think it, I say it, I write it, I read it! IF they tell you a story, have them write the story.

Social Studies We have a map of our new land. We will create our community, map out the landforms, directions, and settle in our town. We will get jobs and work together to make our community the best. We will have celebrations and respect other traditions. We will learn to get along with all people.

Science Students will learn to test their questions and conduct experiments, share their results, and make changes to the experiment. It is very important that the student master the academic vocabulary. Every night they should practice using their words as they explain what they did in class.

Homework Students should review their Journal every day. Vocabulary words are written in their journal at the beginning of each topic. Students will get STEMScope log-in for review, the log-in information will be on the front cover of their journal. Vocab quizzes are on Thursday and cumulative. Any work not finished in class will be assigned as homework.
