Our Apple Tree Upcoming - Apple Tree Working Bee Darebin Council Grant – 2016 Short Film – 2016 – Latrobe Uni 2016 - We’ve talked compost with Josh from Veg, built wicking beds and vertical gardens with Paul from Growing Spaces, built pallet furniture and even set up a working compost hub that is cooking up a great brew of compost to keep the space verdant. Alongside that we’ve also had some especially memorable events including our very own tree ceremony, pruning of the mulberry, fig and pomegranate and even a short film about the space by film students from Latrobe which screened at a short film festival. Our Apple Tree is a challenging space and never stays ‘done’ for long but the dedicated weed pulling, grass snipping and general cleaning up of the volunteers is a testament to community action. With support from Darebin council though a community grant we’ve made big progress and look forward to even more in the next year with a solar watering system and an extension to the compost hub. Upcoming - Apple Tree Working Bee Sunday 10 September 2017 - 1pm 123 Herbert St, Northcote
