Petulance peCHələns noun Other forms of the word: petulancy (noun) petulantly (adverb) Definition: Being childishly sulky or bad tempered in behavior; peevishness Example: The child took on a petulance tone when told she couldn’t have any candy. A good way to remember: Think of a pet, they have the tendency to act childlike.

Zealous zeləs adjective Other forms of the word: Zealously (adv.) zealousness(noun Definition: to be excited about something. Example: When it came to brushing his teeth, John was quite zealous, always checking to be sure his teeth were as clean as possible. A way to remember: SpongeBob is a zealous worker.

Effusive ifyo͞osiv adjective Other forms of the word: Effusively (adv.) Effusiveness (noun) Definition:  expressing a lot of emotion in a heartfelt, gushy manner. Example: She was so effusive in describing her boyfriend that it soon grew annoying. A way to remember: think of Candice on Phineas and Ferb when thinking of Jeremy.

Morose mərōs adjective Other forms of the word: morosely (adv.) moroseness (noun) Definition: To be depressed and gloomy Example: The little girl became morose when her mom informed her that her dog had died. A way to remember: Think of putting a rose on a grave.

Ardor ärdər noun Other form of the word: Definition: strong feeling you have about something. Usually used when speaking of love. Example: The president spoke with great ardor about the new law. A good way to remember: When think of “Ardor” think of the word “Adore”
