“In war, there are no unwounded soldiers.” ~Jose Narosky **Please take out your homework and copy today’s learning target! Have your homework out for me to check! Learning Target: Define “story-truth” and “happening-truth” 17 Sep. 2013 “In war, there are no unwounded soldiers.” ~Jose Narosky

Bellwork 9/17/13 Record three facts from your neighbors about the Vietnam War.

The Things They Carried The language is, at times, crude, offensive, sexual, or shocking The content is, at times, gory and disturbing The emotions portrayed are deeply personal and often troubling Talk to me with any concerns you may have about the content

“Good Form” As we read this, think about what O’Brien is saying about truth. What is “story-truth” vs. “happening-truth?”

Fact or Fiction? Read the essay, then answer these questions in your English notebook! How much can we trust the authenticity of this novel? Why might this style be best suited for a book about war? How important is it whether or not all the facts in a book are true? How does this essay and the story, “Good Form” impact the way you’re going to perceive the rest of the book?
