Parts of Speech Enrichment

Nouns Definition – a noun is a person, place, thing or idea. There are three types: Common nouns – any person, place, thing, or idea Proper nouns – a specific person, place, thing, or idea Pronouns – words that take the place of nouns

Confusing Pronouns A lot of pronouns have homophones. Ex. your and you’re its and it’s their and they’re You can have too many pronouns. The sentences won’t make sense.

Verbs Definition – a verb is an action word, a state of being or possessing. There are three states: Action – walk, runs, rains, drink State of possessing – has, belongs, own, had State of being – feel, look, is, believe

Versions of Verbs Every verb has multiple versions of that verb. Past tense version, present tense, future tense, etc. The base of the verb is the present tense version + to in front of it. Ex. “To walk”
