AACPS Program Spotlight: “At the end of the day, the most overwhelming key to a child’s success is the positive involvement of their parents.” – Jane D. Hull March 2018 Remember: Spring Break! Thursday, March 29, 2018 – Monday, April 2*, 2018 All AACPS Schools & Offices will be closed. * In the event that all allocated snow days are used, AACPS Schools and Offices could be open on Monday, April 2, 2018 March is National Nutrition Month! Daily Tips to Help Your Family Eat Better Make it Fun! Let kids pick out a new fruit or veggie to try each week and learn to cook it in a healthy way. Cook at Home. When you cook at home, you have more control over ingredients and portion sizes. Make Snack Time Count! A handful of nuts, whole or cut fruit, and pre-chopped or no-chop veggies are all simple, savvy snack time selections! Break Up With Sneaky Salt! Did you know that about 90% of kids eat too much sodium? Use salt-free seasoning and prepare lower-sodium versions of the “salty six” (pizza, burritos, and soup, to name a few!) Be a Good Role Model! Let your kids see you making healthy choices to reinforce a healthy lifestyle! From The American Heart Association Click Here to Read More! March 2, 2018 is National Read Across America Day! Celebrate the day with family by: Engaging in a fun reading event sponsored by your child’s school or your local Anne Arundel County Public Library. Developing and committing to plan to engage your family in reading all year round! For tips and ideas, check out the National Education Association’s Read Across America and Reading Resources pages.
