6th Grade Scheduling Feb 12- 16 TMS Counselor @ four elementary campuses Students will come home with a scheduling form for you to select classes, sign, and return to school by 2/23/18. Counselors will enter course requests for students.

7th Grade Scheduling Course selections will be presented to students on Tuesday, 2/20/18. Students will be entering selected courses with parent signature on 2/26/18 and 2/27/18. Course selection forms are also available for you to take tonight.

8th Grade Scheduling Course selections will be presented to students on Thursday, 2/22/18. Students will be entering selected courses with parent signature on 2/28/18 and 3/1/18. Course selection forms are available for you to take tonight.

6th Grade Courses ELA (2 periods) Math Science Social Studies PE/Pre-Athletics Elective or Accelerated MATH- if required due to failing STAAR

7th Grade Courses ELA Math Science Social Studies PE/Athletics 2 Electives or Accelerated READING/MATH- if required due to failing STAAR

8th Grade Courses ELA Math Science Social Studies PE/Athletics 2 Electives or Accelerated READING/MATH- if required due to failing STAAR

6th/7th Grade Electives Art I & 2 Band Choir Dance Team (7th grade by audition) Theater 1 & 2 Career Investigations (1 semester) College/Career Readiness (1 semester) Speech (1 semester) All of these are subject to class requests and staffing. Students will select several alternates in case their first choices are not available. 8th graders are scheduled first, then 7th, then 6th.

8th Grade Electives Art Band Choir Dance (by audition only) Theater Cyber Citizenship (1 semester) Interpersonal Studies (1 semester) Professional Communications (1 semester) Touch Data Entry (1 semester) All of these are subject to class requests and staffing. Students will select several alternates in case their first choices are not available. 8th graders are scheduled first.

Interpersonal Studies required for success and independence. This course focuses on the student’s development in several areas - family and friends,education and career. The course includes lessons regarding time management, collaboration and communication, decision making, stress management, and other skills required for success and independence.

Professional Communications This speech course helps students develop verbal and nonverbal communication skills needed for personal and professional success.

Cyber Citizenship Students learn how to stay safe on the internet, how to use social media appropriately, how to protect their identity, and how to use internet resources effectively.
