Our products Mechanical locks Electromechanics Security doors and fittings Industrial locks Automatic doors and Revolvers Identification Hotel locks Global platforms Here you can see some of the products in our global ASSA ABLOY offering: Mechanical locks and accessories and mechanical masterkey systems continue to form the core of the ASSA ABLOY product range, accounting for over half of the Group’s sales worldwide. Electromechanical technology can provide even greater security and is currently showing the strongest rate of growth. Electromechanical locks and components also form part of many integrated solutions for access control and safe emergency evacuation of buildings. Our special areas of expertise include: Identification: The main growth area is Radio Frequency Identification. Where even greater security is needed, smart cards can store information about the authorized user on the card itself. Automatic Doors: Through Besam, ASSA ABLOY has acquired a world-leading position in automatic doors. Our global coverage gives opportunities to integrate automatic doors with locking and access control and thereby meet our customers’ demands for maximum convenience and simplicity. Hotel locks: ASSA ABLOY started a technical revolution when VingCard introduced its first card-operated lock in the late 1970s. Since then there has been ongoing development of electromechanical and electronic solutions. Industrial locks have also been influenced by the developments in electronics. These locks are marketed to manufacturers of products such as vending machines, parking meters, payphones and lockers. The latest electronic options assist with time control, Tracking and in-company security functions by recording the visits of personnel servicing the machines. Global platforms. We also offer product planning in designing new product platforms which can be adapted to local standards. One example is the CLIQ technology, which is a masterkey system which is ideal for colleges, apartment blocks and industrial estates with rapid turnover of key holders. This provides up to 4000’ cable run from door to v.N1 Interface Module. As a note - most installers run a 6 conductor cable and use a QC6 ElectroLynx hinge. The Interface Module then converts data from RS485 connection to electrical signals, dry contacts, Wiegand data, etc., for connection to all popular Wiegand-based access control systems.

Introducing Aperio™ Technology A global wireless platform from ASSA ABLOY Utilizes local wireless communication between the lock(s) and an Aperio hub to connect to an online electronic access control system Eliminates the greatest cost and inconvenience of traditional access control – the wiring at the door – Our response? Aperio technology – a global wireless platform that eliminates the greatest cost and inconvenience of traditional access control – the wiring at the door – without the hassle of complex site surveys. Aperio utilizes local wireless communication between the lock and an Aperio hub to connect to an online electronic access control system. It gives you an easy, cost effective way to expand the reach of existing access control panels and secure additional openings.
Redefining Wireless Access Control 1:1 hub-lock ratio 1:8 1st quarter 2011 Lock and Aperio hub paired during manufacturing Minimizes field configuration Ensures secure communication Distance 15ft 45 ft 1st quarter 2011 This illustration shows the basic topology of an Aperio system. The lock communicates wirelessly to the Aperio hub, which is connected to the access control system using RS-485 or Wiegand wiring. Eliminating the wiring in and around the door removes the greatest cost and inconvenience of bringing access control to doors. The simple 1:1 relationship between the lock and hub minimizes field configuration and ensures secure communication between that particular lock and hub.
Redefining Wireless Access Control The Aperio hub is also available to support multiple doors. With fewer hubs to install, wiring time is reduced, and there is less disruption to the facility. However, the locks and hub must be paired in the field. This increases field configuration effort, but makes the physical installation simpler. This may be a good option for facilities with a limited number of open ports on their existing access control panels. Ultimately, facilities must decide which aspects are most critical to them when deciding whether to use the 1 to 1 or 1 to several lock-hub ratio. This option is not available to customers using Mercury-based systems, because the Mercury MR50 platform is a single door controller.
Easily Expand the Reach of Existing Electronic Access Control Systems Wired Access Control Door Aperio Enabled Door Aperio Technology allows facilities to secure additional doors by leveraging their existing access control system. It increases the security and accountability of a building and its occupants without the expense or hassle of traditional access control. The illustration you see here shows the impact that this solution can have on the overall security of a facility. While wired access control is still recommended for certain openings, wireless technology like Aperio is ideal for adding access control to openings that might otherwise go unprotected.
An Innovative New Approach to Online Access Control Quick, easy wireless deployments Minimal field configuration No proprietary programming devices required Works with many popular access control systems for easy integration into existing systems Aperio is an innovative new approach to online access control that offers quick, easy wireless deployments. Local wireless communication eliminates the biggest expense and inconvenience of traditional access control – the wiring at the door – without the need for complex, expensive site surveys. Whether you choose to order your locks and hubs paired at the factory or to be configured in the field, installation and set up is fast and easy. No special equipment is required for field configuration – all you need is a laptop or netbook with Windows XP or Windows 7, Java 6.2 or greater, and an available USB port. Aperio is designed to integrate easily into existing access control systems. [MERCURY CUSTOMERS ONLY: The Aperio hub uses the Mercury MR50 controller platform for completely seamless integration into Mercury-based access control systems.] Globally, Aperio is currently supported by a growing list of over 40 access control system providers.
