What’s the difference? The advanced English conversation classroom In the 1st picture………, but in the 2nd picture………

A few classroom rules Please do not check messages or chat on your phone in our class. **Classes will start on time – if you are not present you are late* Being late for class will negatively affect your grade. Absences may affect your attendance grade AND your participation grade. Please go to the bathroom before coming to class. Do not go to the bathroom right after your name has been called for attendance. Do not talk while Nina is speaking to the whole class.

Attendance and punctuality **Classes will start on time – if you are not present you are late* Being late for class will negatively affect your grade. If you are 10 or more minutes late, you are marked late. (1 absence = -1%, Lateness = -0.5%, 6 absences = a course fail.) If a student is late, it is the student’s responsibility to inform the instructor to be marked ‘late’, and not ‘absent’. It is the student’s responsibility to keep up to date with class materials, content and assignments should a class be missed.

Participation Not participating in classroom activities and small groups will lower your grade. Bring student book and other materials. Please do not chat on your phone in my class. Please try to sleep at home and not in my class. Students lose points for participation: if they are absent; they do the minimum speaking possible; use their phone for reasons other than this class; do not bring their textbooks or other necessary items; and are generally not engaged in class time. If students speak in a language other than English, this will affect their participation score. It is expected that students will speak English in class. Participation also includes a student’s overall seriousness and positive attitude in class and during class activities.
