Banksy: Graffitti Art

Banksy is a pseudonymous British graffiti artist, political activist, film director, and painter. His satirical street art and subversive epigrams combine dark humor with graffiti executed in a distinctive stenciling technique. His works of political and social commentary have been featured on streets, walls, and bridges of cities throughout the world.

Helen Frankenhaler

Helen Frankenthaler (December 12, 1928 – December 27, 2011) was an American abstract expressionist painter. She was a major contributor to the history of postwar American painting. Having exhibited her work for over six decades (early 1950s until 2011), she spanned several generations of abstract painters while continuing to produce vital and ever-changing new work. Frankenthaler began exhibiting her large-scale abstract expressionist paintings in contemporary museums and galleries in the early 1950s

Silhouette in an Environment

Assignment: Use the ideas of both artist and a combination of both paints (watercolor and acrylic) to create a painting that includes a silhouette of a human. Background: Use the ideas of Helen Frankenhaler and techniques we have used with watercolor. Foreground: Use darker acrylic colors to incorporate a human figure in to the work.
