the study and treatment of tumors. Description the study and treatment of tumors. A branch of medicine that specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. It includes medical oncology (the use of chemotherapy, hormone therapy, and other drugs to treat cancer), radiation oncology (the use of radiation therapy to treat cancer), and surgical oncology (the use of surgery and other procedures to treat cancer).

Jobs Oncologist (medical)- A medical Oncologist treats cancer using chemotherapy or other medications, such as targeted therapy. Oncologist (surgical)- A surgical Oncologist removes the tumor and nearby tissue during an operation. He or she also performs certain types of biopsies. Oncologist(hematologist)-A Hematologist-Oncologist diagnoses and treats blood cancers, such as leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma.

Education requirements 4-year medical school program. 3-8 years of residency and internship. Completion of a bachelor's degree program, particularly one that includes coursework in the biological and chemical sciences, is the first step in becoming an oncologist.
