Training course Part 4: More advanced features! TScore Training course Part 4: More advanced features!

Agenda – Part 4 Preferences screen Edit classes – advanced Custom class definitions and entry forms Edit clubs Other disciplines Certificates Customising results & checklists Anything else I’ve forgotten!

Preferences screen Lots of settings are available – most are self-explanatory

Advanced class editing - 1 You can assign multiple classes to a single flight (Timetable editor) The classes bounce together Results a kept separate We frequently want to combine classes if numbers are low Makes a ‘proper’ competition if > 3 entrants Keeps trophy costs down Two way to combine classes By adding a different age group to the current class Join multiple classes an create a new composite class Ones joins are selected, you click ‘Combine’ You can undo the join by using Reset – original classes are remembered You can export results with the original classes too

Demonstration Join Classes

Advanced class editing - 2 Once you have edited classes, you may want to re-use them TScore saves class definitions in simple “class definition” text files (CDF) You can save the current set using ‘Save to File’ You can merge a CDF with the current competition You might want to have one per discipline CDFs are listed in the ‘New Competition’ screen as Competition ‘Type’ CDFs are located in C:\Users\Public\Documents\TScoreX\ClassDefns Files are strictly column-aligned, but can be edited by hand

Entry forms - 1 Entry forms are written in Excel Simple in essence, but can include complex lookups 4 key fields define a class: Discipline, Gender, Grade & Age These are read from 3 fields on the entry form and must match the CDF

Entry forms - 2 The Age (actually AgeGroup) is normally calculated from the Year of Birth This will often entail a complex formula, so Protect the worksheet

Entry forms - 3 When you actually look at the formula, it just uses a couple of lookups from the ‘Lists’ worksheets, and some named cell ranges

Import lists Online entry systems (BGNet, USAG Online) usually generate CSV or Excel lists TScore can import these using the Import/Export screen Prepare the file so it has correct column names Basics are: Name, Age, Gender, Grade, Discipline, Start See the User Guide for the full set of recognised column names Note that the USAG file contains multiple disciplines per athlete Some formats (BG GymNet) do not have Discipline, Age, Gender and Grade TScore has to try to match these by ‘competitionname’ alone If there is no identically named class, TScore will try to guess it It looks for key phrases to identify the key fields The phrases are defined in ‘Lookup files’ for Discipline, Age, Gender and Grade You can extend or modify these – take care with ordering

Lookups for class matching Some formats (BG GymNet) do not have Discipline, Age, Gender and Grade TScore has to try to match these by ‘competitionname’ alone If there is no identically named class, TScore will try to guess it It looks for key phrases to identify the key fields The phrases are defined in ‘Lookup files’ for Discipline, Age, Gender and Grade C:\Users\Public\Documents\TScoreX\ClassDefns\Lookup You can extend or modify these – take care with ordering Example: Club 1 | CLB1 Club 2 | CLB2 Club 3 | CLB3 Club 4 | CLB4 Challenge Junior | ChJnr Challenge Senior | ChSnr Espoire | ChEsp Espoir | ChEsp

Edit Clubs The Edit Clubs screen serves three purposes Make changes to all of the gymnasts from a particular club Set email addresses or just fill in missing ones Correct long and short names Set state / region Check the status of each club’s gymnasts – who has competed etc. Use the filter to print of certificates for all clubs / schools who have finished competing

Other Disciplines TScore supports: Trampoline, Synchro, DMT, Tumbling, Acro, Artistic Gymnastics and Pole Sports. Some of these are still in ‘beta’. Each have different scoring schemes, layouts and rules

Certificates Can be produced for participation, confirmation of results or qualification Create a Word certificate template in C:\Users\Public\Documents\TScoreX\Templates Use pre-printed backgrounds, static text and bookmarks for fields to be replaced: Name Club Place Qualified Score Competition Grade After Class Date

Custom result sheets You can customise the printed results sheets these use Excel files as templates installed as C:\Users\Public\Documents\TScoreX\Templates and C:\Users\Public\Documents\TScoreX\TemplatesUSA override in C:\Users\Public\Documents\TScoreX\MyTemplates or per-competition in <competition folder>\Templates Set colours, fonts, row and column sizes Results templates are “PrintTemplate<DSC>.xlsx” e.g. PrintTemplateDMT. xlsx Export files are “ExportTemplate<DSC>. xlsx”, (e.g. ExportTemplateART.xslx) but the default includes TRA, SYN, DMT, TUM as worksheets Don’t add or remove rows or columns – it can break printing Beware of template version marker in cell - P1. Do not change it! You can add graphics / logos etc

Custom checklists You can customise the checklists and export files these use Excel files as templates installed as C:\Users\Public\Documents\TScoreX\Templates and C:\Users\Public\Documents\TScoreX\TemplatesUSA override in C:\Users\Public\Documents\TScoreX\MyTemplates or per-competition in <competition folder>\Templates Set colours, fonts, row and column sizes Checklists can be portrait / landscape Number of rows per gymnast (useful for manual recorders) Beware of version and other flags on row 1 – some can be changed Z1 is a version marker – don’t change it AA is ‘rounds per row’ for the recorder sheet AE is the letter of the last column to copy into the output AH is Y/N to use row heights set in the template

The future? A few ideas and requests! (no promises just yet) Flexible flights – mix & match from classes Passes on different panels (especially for tumbling) Lunch / presentations in timetable Individual judge entry pads Full support for WAG / MAG Rhythmic gymnastics ‘Track display’ for next gymnast etc. Online entries Bundled ‘publish to website’ Integration with ToF and HD equipment TScore as a cloud service

Where can I get help? The User guide is the first place to look – you can download a copy https://tscore.co.uk/wp/downloads/ Training videos, knowledge base and forum on the TScore website: https://tscore.co.uk/wp/training/ https://tscore.co.uk/wp/forums/ Most discussion though is now on the TScore Facebook group, which has over 40 members. Please email support@tscore.co.uk for an invitation to this closed group
