RUNNING CLUB Measure your track or running area to determine the distance of one lap.Determine how you will keep track of how many laps a student runs. Many physical education teachers have them pick up a popsicle sticks as they complete a lap. At the end of the running time, the teacher records the number of laps they have finished based on the number of sticks they have accumulated. Set the days and times your running club will meet. Some clubs meet two days a week before or after school, while others run during the lunch hour and have the teacher on duty monitor the number of laps they complete. You may want to do both.Ø They don’t necessarily have to “run”, they just have to complete a lap. So they can walk, skip, hop, twirl, or crawl. Any way they want to get in a lap. When the student completes 5 miles the will receive a prize as determined by the school and physical education teacher. ( It can be as simple as their name on a chart
Set up rewards for various mile intervals Set up rewards for various mile intervals. That is up to the individual school and physical education teacher. When the student reaches 75 miles, they will receive a certificate from the physical education department. When they reach 100 miles, they will receive a pin from the physical education department and have their name listed in the Tulsa World and the Superintendents Bulletin under the Tulsa Public Schools 100 Mile Club. Names may be turned in to the physical education department as they reach 75 and 100 miles. May 10, 2010 is the last day to turn in names to the physical education department.
