It also has labor laws, rules and regulations for employers. How to get unemployment if you are laid off. Along with many other services. We are going to focus on Individuals Seeking Employment!

Individuals Quick Links “Job Seeker Guide” Will expand to ALL options! Click on MORE Will expand to ALL options!

“more” option will bring you here…. Notice this top section is the name topics in the “job seeker” quick link

Talk the talk: The Interview

The Interview Questions they might ask Questions YOU may want to ask Resources for other “typical” interview questions

Keep your Job Give out handout “Keep Your Job” Very important….these are the same things we try to teach you in class. I did not write this. The GA DEPT OF LABOR thinks this information is so important, that it created a separate brochure on it. They get their information directly from employers. I talk to employers and they tell me the same thing, time and time again. SOOOO, this is what the bottom line is…..if you act like this (the skills and characteristics listed here) you are going to STAND OUT to a potential employer. Story of WBL student at GEICO. Walked out and left a note on her supervisors desk. Asked the 2nd day when you was going to get a raise. She burnt a bridge, that she might need one day. I was hired at Middle Georgia College 3 times…..why? Because I did my work and did not leave on bad terms.

Employ Georgia This is a new site. It has career exploration and resume building. On-line resumes have become very popular. Employers do not have time to READ every resume, so they will “search” for Keywords (RAFB- does this) One person, may not use the same “terms” that they are searching for and so their resume may not get chosen. On this website, you check off certain skills and it actually builds the resume for you. ****Sign into the account and show them about jobs in GA

After High School…. What do you want to do? Where are you going to go? Have you completed an application? Seniors, have you checked into financial aid? Complete your FASFA- first step in completing your financial aid

Completing Applications: Information needed for a job application-keep this in your phone or wallet School name, address, phone and fax Social Security Number Previous employer, name, address, phone number, fax (if applicable) and supervisor or contact person (email address for this person) School and jobs….start with the most recent and work your way back

Email address Ringback tones Social media Watch out…. Make sure your email address is appropriate and professional…set up a separate email if necessary. Make sure your ringback tone is appropriate if they call you back Be careful what you post on social media….companies do look at it---just because you think it or do it, does not mean it needs to be publicized

FUTURE!!!!! Minimum Wages Jobs…… Are the Gateway to YOUR Jobs you work now…do your best…you never know who is watching you and what it will lead to. You are not just earning minimum wage….you are gaining valuable experience whether it is in a field you want to stay in or not. You may just be bagging groceries right now, but you do not where that will lead….Store managers without degrees started out bagging groceries or cashiering.
