Presenters Lauren Call Member, Lakeside Kiwanis club Troy Dibley Member, DC Young Professional and Downtown Kiwanis clubs Sherri McKeen, CAE Alumni specialist, Kiwanis International

Objectives Strengthen the service outreach of your Kiwanis club by recruiting Key Club and Circle K International alumni. And… Get real advice from current Kiwanians.

Key points Three great ways to reach and recruit Attract alumni through Facebook Attract alumni with a good story Attract alumni through current youth members

2012 Alumni survey A little background: 76% of alumni under the age of 34 60% graduated less than 5 years ago 33% make less than US$25,000 annually 23% make between US$25,001 and US$50,000

2012 Alumni survey 71% of alumni members are not in a Kiwanis club Of the 29% in a Kiwanis club, service opportunities is the #1 thing that inspired them to join. 2nd – supporting Kiwanis SLPs 11% of alumni are ready to join Kiwanis

2012 Alumni survey Non-Kiwanian alumni. Top 5 reasons for not joining: I don’t have the time I’m just not ready yet, but will seek to join at some point It’s too expensive I haven’t been asked I don’t know where to start

2012 Alumni survey What would it take you to join a Kiwanis club? I will join Kiwanis after college More free time Knowing the club does more than having meetings and giving money If I could afford the dues Just ask me

Tactics

Facebook Both alumni pages Be clear on who and where you are Use links Be convenient Highlight service Use pictures Interact Don’t give up Post consistently Don’t forget district alumni pages as well
