The Moon, Earth, and Sun By: Erica Dawson
Sun The sun’s size is 432,474 miles. It has an atmosphere made of Cromosphere and Corona. Do you know what sunspots are? Sunspots are areas on the sun that are black. Sunspots are actually cooler than the rest of the sun High Temp.= 27,000,000 degrees F. Low Temp.=7,300 degrees F. High Temp.=15,000,000 degrees C. Low Temp.=4,000 degrees C. Solar flares are brief eruptions of intense high-energy radiation from the suns surface.
Earth The earth’s size is 3,959 miles around Some of earths landforms are… Plateaus and Mountains The amount of time it takes for the earth to go around the sun 1 time is 365 days
The Sun and Earth Comparison While the earth takes 24hrs to rotate on its axis… The sun takes 26.6 days to rotate on its axis About 1 million earths can fit in to the sun No suns can fit into the earth
Water ¾ of the earths surface is covered in water The moon has no liquid water but 220 pounds of ice There is no water on the sun
Craters and Landforms The sun has only sunspots. The moon has so many craters and landforms because when meteorites and spaceships land or hit it it has no atmosphere to protect it therefore it has holes aka craters. The sun has only sunspots. The earth has mountains, valleys, and plains
Atmosphere The earth has an atmosphere and therefore we have very little craters The moon has an atmosphere but the atmosphere is very thin
Gravity The moon has 1/3 of the gravity on earth The earth has gravity and enough for us to live on the earth The sun has enough gravity to hold the 8 planets in orbit
