Homogenization Homogenized milk has had the butterfat broken into very small particles so that it will remain suspended in the milk and not rise to the top. SAME

Pasteurization Pasteurization is a process of heating very quickly to a high temperature to kill bacteria. All milk sold in the US is pasteurized for safety.

What about calcium? Calcium is a mineral that your body uses for building strong bones and teeth among other things.

Osteoporosis Osteoporosis is a disease that produces weak brittle bones. It can be caused by a lack of calcium in the body.

Your body stores calcium in the bones when you are young Your body stores calcium in the bones when you are young. Along with exercise this makes your bones strong. When your body needs calcium for other functions it will take it from the store in your bones.

As you get older your body takes more out than it is putting in and your bones may become weak and brittle.

Risk Factors for Osteoporosis 1. Women 2. Caucasian 3. Over 40 4. Little exercise 5. Smoking 6.Family History

Prevention You can help prevent osteoporosis by getting adequate calcium and other nutrients and exercising regularly. Also, drink less pop!
