NICE guidance and quality standards Evidence Guidance Quality Standards A set of systematically developed recommendations to guide decisions for a particular area of care or health issue Research studies - experimental and observational, quantitative and qualitative, process evaluations, descriptions of experience, case studies A NICE quality standard is a concise set of statements designed to drive and measure priority quality improvements.

This is the obesity in adult quality standard, 8 statements based on the following guidelines (next slide)

Evidence sources Weight management: lifestyle services for overweight or obese adults (2014) NICE guideline PH53 Obesity: identification, assessment and management (2014) NICE guideline CG189 NHS England (2014) Report of the working group into: Joined up clinical pathways for obesity Department of Health (2013) Developing a specification for lifestyle weight management services: best practice guidance for tier 2 services National Audit Office (2012) An update on the government's approach to tackling obesity Department of Health (2011) Healthy lives, healthy people: a call to action on obesity in England Definitions and data sources for the quality measures Health and Social Care Information Centre 2014 care.data extract NICE Quality Standards aren’t based on NICE guidelines in isolation.

A very brief introduction to our ‘wider range’ of resources A very brief introduction to our ‘wider range’ of resources. Mel will be talking about how they have used NICE Indicators to help improve management of hypertension.

NICE ROI Tools Key features: model the effects of single, or multiple, interventions on at-risk population groups estimate the overall costs against the value of non-health benefits as well as health and wellbeing improvements mix and match interventions to see which package provides the best outcome identify cost savings or determine if the additional benefits are worth the extra costs customise the tools to include data and interventions specific to your local area use the results to help support your business cases. Also highlight the NICE ROI tools which are available on the NICE website (click on ‘save money’) on home page.
