introduction Today I will be talking about what are wetlands, why wetland environments are so important, what animals live in wetland areas, what is happening to them, and what we could do to stop wetlands from disappearing. I think this is a very interesting topic and you will probably think it is interesting also!

What are wetlands? -Wetlands are the link between land and water. -Other names for wetlands are swamp, bog and marsh. -Wetlands can be saltwater or freshwater. -Some animals that live in wetlands are alligators, turtles, newts and shrimps.

Why are wetlands so important? -You are probably perplexed about why are wetlands so important. -The purpose of wetlands around the coast are to act like a sponge and holding the water when there is a flood. -The purpose of wetlands in the mountains is to also prevent flooding because without wetlands rain enters our rivers, causing them to rise and and flood areas. - most of the time wetlands are grotesque.

Effects of wetland loss Another reason wetlands are disappearing is people are wanting to have houses near the beach, and because of that they have to get rid of wetlands to make room. The bad thing about that is they are taking away wetlands where most floods and hurricanes appear and there is no protection.

What animals live in wetlands? - alligators, newts, shrimp, and turtles. - Most people do not think about it but when people destroy wetlands they also kill the animals and plants that live in the wetlands. People kill Frog that lives in a wetland-> These frogs and that makes me melancholy. .

What are happening to wetlands? -People have drained wetlands and converted them into dry land or (and) filled them in and creating lakes. - They are doing this to make room for things such as farmland, land fills and development of homes and businesses. bvcz-xcvb
