Lesson Objectives To utilise shape tools to trace around a cartoon image All students will create a level appropriate image Most students will be able to explain how they have met their target level Some students will be able to justify how they have exceeded their target level

The Task Your assessment is to trace around a cartoon image in order to replicate it as precisely as possible. This task is designed to test your use of the pen tool and creating shapes. Year 8 ts2 ts3 ts4 1 2 3 4 5 6 Shapes Can alter the inside/outside colour and line thickness of a shape Can use the Eye Dropper Tool to select colours Can draw shapes which have various different number of sides Have used layers in creating my cartoon. Can create effective original shapes using the pen tool Can create a compound shape using the shape builder tool Can create an effective compound shape using the path finder tool Can use the white arrow to alter shapes including turning corners into curves Can add and remove points of a shape using the Pen tool

Which one will you choose? Do not choose a cartoon based on your own preference - choose one which is best suited to your level of skill! Grade TS2-TS4 One colour One simple shape Grade 1-3 Simple shapes. No overlapping shapes Grade 5-6 Complex shapes Overlapping shapes

In order to achieve a level you need to demonstrate that you can do that skill independently and effectively For example; Level 5 - Can create original shapes using the pen tool Level 6 - Can create a compound shape using the shape builder tool This shows the use of the pen tool to create an original shape however it has not been done effectively nor does it demonstrate precise skill. This would not achieve a level 5 This shows the use of a compound shape however it is not accurate and does not show good attention to detail therefore the student has not met the criteria. This would not achieve a level 6

In your work book Snip the work you have done so far to get feedback. Swap with a partner and review their work - do not make a comment about it being unfinished! Your work is a grade______ I know this because ______ To get to the next level you need to ______ Year 8 ts2 ts3 ts4 1 2 3 4 5 6 Shapes Can alter the inside/outside colour and line thickness of a shape Can use the Eye Dropper Tool to select colours Can draw shapes which have various different number of sides Have used layers in creating my cartoon. Can create effective original shapes using the pen tool Can create a compound shape using the shape builder tool Can create an effective compound shape using the path finder tool Can use the white arrow to alter shapes including turning corners into curves Can add and remove points of a shape using the Pen tool

Act on your feedback Continue to work on your design and bear in mind what your test buddy has said. I want to see how you have acted on what your test buddy has said.

In your booklet Print screen your final design. My work is a Grade _____ I know this because___ I acted on my feedback by_____
