Why is ITS Aligning with IEAC? ITS has aligned technical project planning efforts with the IEAC assessment planning process to: Focusing ITS resources on projects of strategic institutional value Gather consistent and comparable data for each request. Improved data improves ITS’ evaluation and ranking process
Definitions Strategic (estimate 3-5 Years prior to implementation)- Major upgrades and campus-wide projects that require extensive ITS support Operational (1-3 Years prior to implementation) smaller upgrades and changes affecting multiple units that require extensive ITS support Expedited (to be implemented within the year)- Upgrades or Updates to existing IT infrastructure, software application or processes, or computing facilities
When to Fill Out the Rubric An organization needs to fill out the rubric if: A project is requested that requires ITS resources to complete beyond the functional unit’s capabilities When doesn’t an organization need to complete it? When the functional unit can complete the project without ITS resources
What happens in ITS after submission? ITS will review submissions to determine the project type (expedited, operational, or strategic). If the request does not rise to the level of a project, ITS will work with the submitter to prioritize the work outside of the IEAC process removing it from the project list ITS may contact Project Sponsors if additional information/clarification is needed to prepare for IT Subcommittee review. IT Subcommittee Chair presents recommendation to IEAC. ITS contacts sponsor when project prioritization list is approved.
