Which of the following do you advise the president to do? Decision A Question Which of the following do you advise the president to do? Ignore scientific developments and do not build an atomic bomb; concentrate on building conventional weapons Vigorously pursue the construction of an atomic bomb because US is in a race against the Germans Postpone the development of the atomic bomb and send spies into Germany to determine the accuracy of the info Do not develop the bomb. Instead monitor Germany’s construction of new weapon facilities and destroy them Denounce the development as immoral. Only evil could come from their development

Which of the following do you advise the president to do? Decision B Question Which of the following do you advise the president to do? Without warning, drop the a-bomb on a Japanese city ASAP Drop the bomb on an unpopulated area to demonstrate its destructive capabilities Warn the Japanese that the US possesses atomic weapons and is willing to use them if they don’t surrender; if they don’t surrender, then drop the bomb Reject the use of atomic weapons and continue conventional bombing and blockade; if no surrender, then invade Japan Reject the use of atomic weapons and negotiate an end to WWII, allowing them to surrender with their emperor

Decision C Question In retrospect, do you think Truman made the right decision in authorizing the use of atomic weapons? Truman DID NOT make the right decision Truman made the right decision
