Macbeth Revision of Act 4 Date: Objectives Revise Act 4 before moving on to Act 4 Make sure everyone is following the story. Mark quotes (needed for 60% of any answer you give in PQE) All of this should be on a sheet which can be used for revision purposes later so don’t write on the sheet. Warm-up: Raise your hand and share a thought about Act 4 of Macbeth. What do you think about it?

Short questions – one to two line answers Short questions – one to two line answers. (For summary and recall of key moments). Answer as a group. Raise hands, share answers with class, discuss and write down an answer. Why does Macbeth meet the witches? (S1) What is the first apparition and what does it tell him? (S1) Why is Lady Macduff angry? (S2) Why does Lady Macduff think she is safe? Is she safe? (S2) Why are Malcolm and Macduff in England? (S3) What three things does Malcolm say about himself to test Macduff’s character? (S3) What powers has King Edward of England? (S3)

Find evidence to prove this is correct. State of affairs. Ross describes Scotland as a ‘wild and violent sea’. Examine what he says in scene two and explain what is wrong in Scotland. (S2) Honour. Is Macduff a good man? Base your response on his conversation with Malcolm in scene three.(S3)
