Upper Body Subcutaneous Fat Is Associated with Cardiometabolic Risk Factors  Jane J. Lee, PhD, Alison Pedley, PhD, Kate E. Therkelsen, MD, Udo Hoffmann, MD, MPH, Joseph M. Massaro, PhD, Daniel Levy, MD, Michelle T. Long, MD  The American Journal of Medicine  Volume 130, Issue 8, Pages 958-966.e1 (August 2017) DOI: 10.1016/j.amjmed.2017.01.044 Copyright © 2017 Terms and Conditions

Figure Prevalence of cardiometabolic risk factors according to the tertiles of upper body subcutaneous fat volume in (A) women and (B) men. Tertile 3 corresponds to the highest upper body subcutaneous fat volumes. The P for linear trend was <.0001 for all cardiometabolic risk factor models, except for LDL cholesterol, in which the P-values were 0.74 for women and 0.24 for men. HDL = high-density lipoprotein; IFG = impaired fasting glucose; LDL = low-density lipoprotein.
