Presentation transcript:

Diversity, Inclusion & Course Materials Chris is a sophomore with ADHD and Dyslexia. He reads slower than his peers, but seeing and hearing text simultaneously helps to increase his comprehension and efficiency. His accommodations include using text-to-speech software. This means he needs his texts and other course materials in electronic formats. The Catch? Not all electronic materials are compatible with his software.

Electronic Inclusion & Accessibility Discussion Points: What problems may Chris run into with PDF, Word & PowerPoint documents? What about online textbooks & courses, or content that involves symbols? How do accessible course materials foster inclusion? How do you make your materials compatible with diverse technology including text-to-speech software? How can changes to your workflow benefit you? How can they benefit other students? http://accessibility.colostate.edu
