Advent Alive-O 8

God promised Sarah and Abraham that they would have a baby God promised Sarah and Abraham that they would have a baby. Sarah tells us: God made a Covenant with us. A covenant is an agreement. It was an agreement between God and us. It was the first covenant. God promised that He would look after us and be our God. We promised that we would be God’s people and live according to His loving ways.

Abraham said: God called me by name. El Shaddai spoke with me Abraham said: God called me by name. El Shaddai spoke with me. He told me that I would be the father of His people. He changed my name from Abram to Abraham marking a new commitment. Sara, He has changed your name too from Sara to Sarah. We’re old, but we are going to have a child! El Shaddai

Sarah then asked: How can this be Sarah then asked: How can this be? Abraham replied: This is a shock, but I trust God completely. He will keep His word and we must keep our word.

God blessed Sarah, Abrahams’ wife, And a son called Isaac was born God blessed Sarah, Abrahams’ wife, And a son called Isaac was born. Abraham and Sarah and Isaac thus began The family of the people of God.

Moses: Called by God... Moses was called by God to lead the people from slavery in Egypt. God saw the people suffering and He sent Moses to lead them to freedom. They passed from slavery to freedom And celebrated with the Passover Meal before they set out for the Promised Land.

Ten Commandments As they wandered through the desert they became frustrated. The began to lose all hope and sight of where they were going. They began to treat Moses with little respect and abandoned belief in God. They began to kill one another, steal, ......

Bible Search Exodus 20:1-21 Exodus 33:1-6 Leviticus 11:1-8 Deuteronomy 7: 1-11

God gave the Ten Commandments to Moses on Mount Sinai so that they could learn to respect one another and God again.

Love the Lord alone with all your heart. Respect the Lord’s name. Keep the Lord’s Day Holy. Honour your parents. All life is in God’s hands; do not destroy life. Be faithful in marriage. Do not steal. Do not speak falsely of others. Do not desire a person who already belongs to another. Do not be greedy for things which already belong to others.

The Chosen People now could travel in peace again with faith in God. God has always been faithful to his people.
