Vertical tasting at Mayacamas Vineyards, Derek resolves to become a winemaker. Derek is taking winemaking classes at UC Davis and produces his first garage wine. Meets Jeff Brinkman of Rhys Vineyards who helps Derek source world-class Pinot Noir grapes. Produces his first Pinot Noir from Santa Cruz Mountain fruit. Bravium founded with intention to craft terroir-driven Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from Californian coastal vineyards. 2010 2011 2012 2015 2017 2018 Derek completes UC Davis' Wine Executive Program. Bravium starts working with Anderson Valley and Mendocino Ridge Pinot Noir grapes. Bravium wines are placed on some of the finest restaurant wine lists in California and gaining critical acclaim. Trinchero family partners with Derek, adding Bravium to its nationwide distribution network, allowing Bravium wines to be sold outside California for the first time.
