Implementation MySQL 6 Active Tables PHP FBML Queries Results Thank you Mark. So here’s how our application lives. Up here we have the servers which store data in a MySQL database. Our database actually has 8 tables. Currently we’re utilizing 6, with the other two reserved for other planned features, which I’m sure will be mentioned later in this presentation. Anyway, this database is queried and returns results, which get rendered into FBML, a custom version of HTML, by means of PHP scripts. FBML is sent to Facebook, and Facebook renders HTML which appears in your browser, like this. Sweet.
User Study 6 Users Screen capture Audio Recording Debriefing / Survey After we finished the application, we wanted to see if we could improve it by seeing what faults other people could find in the application. For this we recruited 6 guinea pigs of various levels of education, car knowledge, and Facebook skill. We originally wanted AutoClub to be so easy a caveman could use it, but scheduling conflicts made this hard to verify. We sat each of the subjects in front of a computer and verbally gave them tasks. The users’ actions were recorded with Camtasia, a screen capturing tool. The users’ thoughts, feelings, and ambitions were recorded by means of a microphone. Afterwards, the users were instructed to use the application freely. The amount of time they spent exploring AutoClub was noted. Vi will talk to you about our findings.
