Our first impressions?

We were surprised by... The number of actions How much has already been done That we are comfortable with change How much we need ‘one click’

What scares us? The scale and speed of change We’re librarians... Nothing! The scale and speed of change Staff skills and capacity Time and resources Funding it How small libraries will keep up

What do we totally disagree with? Almost nothing, except... Ask a Librarian Loss of local identity PLS control of public PCs Sacrificing our collections for technology

What do we totally agree with? digital is not ‘add on’ any more giving it a go improving the customer experience Investing some of the materials grant in digital [many said this, not all] upskilling staff

What are we really excited about? Being innovative and on par with our community Being part of an industry recognised for being IT savvy Change of focus for core library services and collections Combining SAPLN financial resources to fund a better interface Developing a simple one-stop method to access our resources Potential to upskill enough staff to really make a difference Bringing in new customers NFC/ibeacon SOLUS! UX That there is a strategy and changes are supported

Who does what?

How do we decide which of the 119 actions we’re doing?

What’s urgent and important? Staff skills! Making it easier for the customer A good governance and funding mechanism Proving the benefits for the next MOA

If the network is leading... how do we do it? KPPM’s ‘Burst of Action’ model for engaging time-poor stakeholders

In development... PLS to establish a group to oversee, plan, organise and review Use burst of action to engage key people (including externals) in specific projects Libraries to direct and implement PLSA input, and lead in some cases Reporting tool via OnePlace
