Or how to behave in my class so that you don’t get in trouble Expectations Or how to behave in my class so that you don’t get in trouble
In our classroom we will… Wait outside the door in a single file line against the lockers while you are waiting for me to arrive Be on time and ready to learn/teach the moment the bell rings Come prepared with the materials required to participate in class Be reasonable (e.g. this is writing class; you can’t complain about having to write an essay) Respect ourselves, our classmates/teacher, and our environment
I put a lot of time and effort into creating these lessons If I hear talking while I’m talking, I lose my train of thought This not only relates to respecting the teacher but also your peers and yourself.
Or what happens when we enter the classroom Procedures Or what happens when we enter the classroom
Every day we will… Come with something to write with, our class folders, homework binders, and Choice Book We will enter silently, prepared for a moment of mindful reflection and intention setting We will grab our journals and begin writing our intentions for the day If we fail to enter silently and sit in our seats, we’ll have to start all over again, and that’s a sad waste of time
Your intention might vary each day depending on your need. …to master this grammar skill I’ve been struggling with …to make it through class without zoning out …to stop thinking about the incident that just happened in the hallway …to ask questions when I don’t understand …to not take it personally
