Basics of Iota Phi Theta® Fraternity, Inc. Founded on September 19th, 1963 at Morgan State College (now University) in Baltimore, Maryland by 12 Men. The Purpose: The development and perpetuation of Scholarship, Leadership, Citizenship, Fidelity, and Brotherhood among men.

Basics of Iota Phi Theta® Fraternity, Inc. Colors: Charcoal Brown and Gilded Gold Motto: Building a Tradition, Not Resting Upon One. Today, there are over 400 undergraduate & alumni chapters across the US and Internationally representing over 55,000 Brothers.

National Service Initiatives Iota Youth Alliance A national umbrella program through which individual chapters address the needs of Black Youth in their communities Afya Njema Means “good health” in Swahili, a concept which allows the fraternity to deal with health related issues faced by African Americans and person of African decent

National Service Initiatives Iota Minority Political Mobilization Through this program, Iota seeks to make minority voters aware of their role in the political process locally and nationally Cultural Education Movement This program seeks to educate the masses about the impact that the African-American culture has had on our society
