Logos What is a logo? Why do companies have and use logos? A logo is a symbol that helps someone recognize a company’s products or services. Why do companies have and use logos? Companies want you to think about specific products or services with their brand. They hope that it makes you more likely to buy them.

What is a symbol? A symbol is… An action, object, event, etc. that expresses or represents a particular idea or quality (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/symbol) A company’s logo is often symbolic of an aspect of its mission or goal.

Logos How many different types of logos are there? How do they differ? Why do different companies have different logos? What does the logo stand for?

Logos Find logos on the computer. You may also use old magazines and newspapers. Select one and answer questions on the worksheet.

Assignment You will be split into groups. Create a list of shared facts. What do you all share? Use these characteristics to make a group logo. Each individual needs to write a 2-3 paragraph explanation of their logo and how it relates to their group’s characteristics.
