The Hero By Austin McGowan

There once was a dog named Bruno There once was a dog named Bruno. He loved his great owner Austin very much.

One day, they were playing outside when Bruno ran away One day, they were playing outside when Bruno ran away. Austin was so upset and spent so much money on flyers and putting them up to try to find his friend Bruno.

Someone told him when he got back from work, that Bruno would be there Someone told him when he got back from work, that Bruno would be there. Sadly, he was not there when Austin got home from work.

The next day, Austin went to work The next day, Austin went to work. Someone heard scratching noises coming from outside the door.

Austin came home from work to find Bruno with a kitten named Grumpy Austin came home from work to find Bruno with a kitten named Grumpy. He smelled like a smelly skunk. Austin said to Bruno, “Where did this kitten come from?” Bruno opened his mouth and said, “I saved this poor kitten from a burning house and from the smoke and fire. Grumpy smelled like a smelly skunk.”

“The owner didn’t care what happened to the poor kitten “The owner didn’t care what happened to the poor kitten. That is why I saved Grumpy from the burning house.” Austin looked at Bruno and asked, “What shall we do with the kitten? We can’t just let him go off on his own in the woods, but if you would like to keep the cat, that would be ok.”

Bruno and I decided to keep Grumpy Bruno and I decided to keep Grumpy. One day, I went looking for Bruno and Grumpy. I discovered them both in Bruno's doggy bed.

Next, we had to call the vet to schedule a appointment to get Grumpy fixed and declawed. Then, we went to a pet store to get items for the kitten.

I am very thankful to have Grumpy and Bruno in my house I am very thankful to have Grumpy and Bruno in my house. I am very proud of Bruno because he saved that poor kitten from the burning house.

I was looking for Bruno and Grumpy again. Guess What I was looking for Bruno and Grumpy again. Guess What? They were sitting on Bruno’s doggy bed all cuddled together. I think Grumpy is fitting in just fine.

Austin McGowan is a senior at Lawrence Country Career and Technical Center. He is enrolled in the Health Assistance Program, and his home school is the Laurel Area School District. I dedicate this book to my wonderful and great dog Bruno.
