Math Fluency Tic Tac Toe Use this tic-tac-toe board to choose three activities to practice fluency for your Home Learning. Fact fluency must be practiced nightly for 10-15 minutes (set a timer!). An adult at home must initial each night to demonstrate that you completed the fluency practice! Using a hundreds chart, shade in multiples by  skip counting followed up by practice chanting only the multiples.  For example: 8, 16, 24, 32, etc.  INITIALS:_____________ Sort a stack of flashcards into piles; those that are known automatically and those that are not.  Practice one or two unknown facts at a time along with known facts until they become automatic. INITIALS:_____________ Play WAR with someone at home. When you flip the cards, multiply before you play. INITIALS:______ Give 1, 2 or 3 minutes to answer as many math facts as possible given a sheet of problems or a stack of flashcards.  Chart the number right and celebrate/reward increasing automaticity. INITIALS:____________ Beat the Calculator is a game where a pair of players competes to see who can answer first.  One player attempts to answer the fact on his/her own before the other finds it on the calculator. INITIALS:_____________ Have someone at home call out a product (36) and asking what multiples the number belongs (2, 18, 3, 4, 6, 9, 12). INITIALS:__________ Triangle Math Facts.  Give three numbers from a combination and the child names the associated facts.  For example, partner says, “Three, nine, six.”  Child answers, “ 3+6=9, 6+3=9, 9-6=3 or 9-3=6. INITIALS:_____________ With multiplication and division, practice facts together that are related.  For instance 4 x 8 = 32 so 8 x 8 = 64 because the first factor is doubled, the quotient is also doubled.  (4’s and 8’s; 2’s and 4’s; 3’s and 6’s; 6’s and 12’s; 4’s and 8’s; 3’s and 9’s, etc.) INITIALS:___________________ Roll two dice and add/subtract/multiply the numbers. INITIALS:_______

INITIALS:_____________ Math Fluency Tic Tac Toe Use this tic-tac-toe (4 in a row) board to choose four activities to practice fluency for your Home Learning. Fact fluency must be practiced nightly for 10-15 minutes (set a timer!). An adult at home must initial each night to demonstrate that you completed the fluency practice! Hopscotch Facts: Draw a hopscotch board with sidewalk chalk and write facts inside each square. Then, you must say the fact and the answer when hopping on each square. INITIALS:_____________ Sorting: Sort a stack of flashcards into piles; those that are known automatically and those that are not.  Practice one or two unknown facts at a time along with known facts until they become automatic. INITIALS:____________ Multiplication WAR: Play WAR with someone at home. When you flip the cards, multiply before you play. INITIALS:__________ Act Facts: Recite facts while doing something rhythmic such as jumping on a trampoline, jumping rope, hopping on one foot, clapping to a beat, or bouncing a ball. INITIALS:_____________ Tech Practice: Use technology to practice your facts! You can use a fluency/flash card app or one of the web games you’ve played in class. INITIALS:___________ Multiples Pyramid: Make a multiples pyramid for each fact you find challenging! 2 is given as an example: 2 2 4 2 4 6 2 4 6 8 2 4 6 8 10 INITIALS:_____________ Triangle Math Facts:  Give three numbers from a combination and the child names the associated facts.  For example, partner says, “Three, nine, six.”  Child answers, “ 3+6=9, 6+3=9, 9-6=3 or 9-3=6. INITIALS:________________ On a Roll: Roll two dice and multiply the numbers. State the division fact that relates to the multiplication fact. INITIALS:________ Family Facts: With multiplication and division, practice facts together that are related.  For instance 4 x 8 = 32 so 8 x 8 = 64 because the first factor is doubled, the quotient is also doubled.  (4’s and 8’s; 2’s and 4’s; 3’s and 6’s; 6’s and 12’s; 4’s and 8’s; 3’s and 9’s, etc.) INITIALS:_____________ Catch! Play catch with a ball. Every time you throw the ball, call out a fact. Then the person who catches must answer. INITIALS:___________ Flashlight Math: Use the flashcards and flip two cards at a time. Kids shine a flashlight on the one they know and answer that one INITIALS:___________ Running facts: Tape two pieces of paper to each wall. Stand on one side of the room and run to the other side of the room to write the answer on a long piece of roll paper on the floor or taped to the wall. INITIALS:____________ Sing me a Fact: Songs, music, and rhyme are all helpful tools to help with math facts. Search for songs to sing to practice your facts. If you can’t find any songs, make one up (and share with your teacher!). INITIALS:___________ Fortune Telling: Create a fortune teller and write your facts inside the flaps. Make one fortune teller for each number family. INITIALS:__________ Create your own! Come up with your own way to practice your fact fluency. INITIALS:______ Write Facts: Use chalk, paint, markers, water–anything–to write the answer to the flipped card (or write whole facts/fact families with a different medium than a pencil! INITIALS:_____________ Time yourself! Set a timer for 5 minutes. Answer as many math facts as possible- choose a fact that you don’t know well. Keep track of the number correct. Then try again and see if you can get a better score the second time! INITIALS:____________ Product Callout: Have someone at home call out a product (36) and asking what multiples the number belongs (2, 18, 3, 4, 6, 9, 12). INITIALS:________________ On a Roll: Roll two dice and multiply the numbers. State the division fact that relates to the multiplication fact. INITIALS:________ Voice Lessons: A partner/adult flips the flashcard and says it in one voice. Then, you say the answer in the same kind of voice (whisper, grumble, shout, squeaky, princess, etc.). INITIALS:____________ Family Facts: With multiplication and division, practice facts together that are related. INITIALS:__________ Sing me a Fact: Songs, music, and rhyme are all helpful tools to help with math facts. Search for songs to sing to practice your facts. If you can’t find any songs, make one up (and share with your teacher!). INITIALS:___________ Fortune Telling: Create a fortune teller and write your facts inside the flaps. Make one fortune teller for each number family. INITIALS:__________ High/Low: Flip the top card on two piles and point to the card that shows the higher (or lower) answer. If you have someone to work with, race to see who can point or put their hand on the pile with the higher product. INITIALS:_____________ Write Facts: Use chalk, paint, markers, water–anything–to write the answer to the flipped card (or write whole facts/fact families with a different medium than a pencil! INITIALS:___________ Trading Card Facts: Create math fact trading cards, specifically with themes and colors that you like, or that reflect an interest or hobby. Display or play games with the cards to practice your facts. INITIALS:____________ Tech Practice: Use technology to practice your facts! You can use a fluency/flash card app or one of the web games you’ve played in class. INITIALS:___________ Memory Math: Create your own “Memory” style game. Write facts on one card, and answers on the other. Then, practice flipping cards over two at a time until you find a pair. INITIALS:___________ Balloon Toss: Toss a balloon or ball around the room with a partner. As you toss, call out a math fact. The goal is to say the answer before catching it. If this is too challenging at first, modify the rule to be to call out the answer before passing it on. INITIALS:___________ Multiples Pyramid: Make a multiples pyramid for each fact you find challenging! 2 is given as an example: 2 2 4 2 4 6 2 4 6 8 2 4 6 8 10 INITIALS:_____________ Create your own!
