POLITICS DEFINED POLITICS: Methods and tactics used in addressing government or social issues. Politics is HOW Decisions are made. Politicians are those who are involved in making those decisions.

Arrow Groups Def: Groups within society that have the ability to address public issues.

6 Arrow Groups There are 6 identified groups within society that have the ability to address public issues. Private Citizens Government Schools Corporations Media Churches

Private Citizens Includes people of all ages, races, ethnicities.

Government Includes all form of governments including: Federal Government State Government Local Governments County City Town Village

Schools Includes all forms of educational institutions. College and Universities High Schools Middle Schools Elementary Schools

Corporations Includes all forms of businesses, both large and small. For Profit: Businesses whose sole purpose is to make money for the purpose the benefit of the owners/stock holders. Ex: Kodak, Wegmans Not-For-Profit: Businesses whose money is then put toward public good. Ex: United Way, American Heart foundation

Media Includes any institution that can disseminate information to the masses. Radio Print Media (newspapers, magazines) Internet Television Movies

Churches Includes any religious institution used as a place of worship and prayer. Ex: Churches Synagogues Mosques Temples

Each of the 6 Arrow groups possess their own unique strengths when addressing public issues. EX: Government has the ability to create/change laws, TV can reach people in their own home, etc.
