SPECIAL TEAMS TRICK PLAYS

LSU H K As soon as the ball is snapped the kicker takes off around the right end. He will catch the ball from the holder and run up the sideline. The Holder takes the snap and puts the ball on the tee for a split second and then pitches the ball behind his head to the kicker around the right end. H K

VANDERBILT This is the web address for the play during actual gameplay. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bkgmaUBNGjE On this play the line blocks the players in front of them. It is a run play so no player can go unblocked if possible. As soon as the ball is snapped the kicker proceeds up the middle taking the handoff from the holder and running up the middle finding a hole and scoring. H The holder takes the snap and then hands the ball off to the kicker running up the middle. K

NOTRE DAME Y H K The holder takes the snap and runs around the end like he is going to run the ball. He then stops and sets up and throws the ball to the Y receiver. Y The Y receiver blocks the defender or defenders on his way to run a route up the right side of the field. Then looks to catch the ball from the holder. H The kicker will just go around the end and pick up a block on anyone that may come through to tackle the holder. K

GEORGIA TECH Z H K This play is a misdirection play. You run the field goal team on late. The regular offense the runs off leaves one player on the field and stays along the sideline where he will hopefully go unnoticed. They run on quick and run the play quick so the defense can’t get set up. Z The Z receiver stays on the field and as soon as the ball is snapped he runs up the sideline looking to catch the ball. H The ball is snapped directly to the kicker. He catches the ball and throws it to the Z receiver running down the sideline. K

PURDUE Z Y H X K Once the center snaps the ball he goes out for a pass to the right side where no defender will realize he can catch pass therefore he will be open. The Y, H, and X receivers go to the right and look to pick up any defenders going after the punter. Z The ball is then snapped to the punter and he runs towards the right and looks to throw the ball to the center. Y H X With this shift the center now becomes an eligible receiver, and can catch a pass, And should have an eligible number. Before the snap the entire right side of the line shifts over to the left side. K

PENN STATE Y X Z H T K The up back takes the snap and heads to the right where he will hand the ball to the H receiver coming back across to the left. Y X Z H T On this play the ball is snapped directly to the up back. The X, Y, and Z receivers all block on this play. The Z receiver is the most important he must hook the end man on the line of scrimmage to make sure no one gets through. The H receiver runs to the left as soon as the ball is snapped and takes the handoff from the up back and goes around the left end . K

NOVA X Y H Z K The H receiver actually keeps the ball and when all the congestion clears up he proceeds with the ball up the left sideline. NOVA The Z receiver reaches down to grab the ball from between the H receivers legs. Then proceeds around the right end following his blockers. X The kicker also leads around right end looking to pick up a block for the Z. The line (plus the X receiver)all block on this play like it is an outside run play to the right. Y H On this play the ball is snapped to the H receiver. The H receiver then puts the ball between his legs like he is going top hand it to the Z receiver. Z The Y receiver runs around the right end looking to pick up a block for the Z receiver. K

WISCONSIN Y X H Z T K Once the Y receiver gets the pitch he continues to the right acting like he is going to run the ball. Once the Z receiver gets open he sets up and throws him the ball. If he doesn't get open the Y receiver has the option to run the ball. The ball is snapped to the up back on the right side. Once he gets the ball he follows the H receiver around the left end. Before he gets close to the left end he pitches the ball to the Y receiver coming back around the right end. H Z T The Z receiver slips through the line and goes out for a pass into the flats. K
