Key New Initiatives International Recommendations for Culture Satellite Account (CSA) Global Monitoring of SDG 11.4.1 New global data collection Culture Thematic Indicators to support SDG-2030

Past UIS-Eurostat Collaboration Cultural Employment Statistics Eurostat participated at the UIS Interagency meeting (2011) Eurostat participated on the UIS Expert Group on Cultural Employment Statistics (2013, 2014) Heritage Statistics Eurostat participated at the Meeting of the UIS Expert Group on Heritage Statistics (2016)

Potential UIS-Eurostat Collaboration Cultural Employment Data Methodology - Common methodology: Occupations + Industries Cultural weights EUROSTAT - 3 and 4-digit level - ISCO 08 - NACE - scope UIS - 4-digit level - ISCO-08 -ISIC 4 - Scope: craft codes

Potential UIS-Eurostat Collaboration Survey of Cultural Employment: Methodology UIS cultural employment survey test phase 2011-2012, Eurostat data was used to estimate the cultural weights and cultural employment. Inconclusive results Too many data were unreliable or deleted for confidentiality issues Not enough detailed data - digit level of classification

Potential UIS-Eurostat Collaboration Survey of Cultural Employment: Data Collection 2015 UIS Survey of Cultural Employment - some European countries noted that UIS should collect data on cultural employment directly from EUROSTAT For this to happen; Scope and definitions need to be aligned Same codes need to be used Partial code methodology needs to be agreed to Eurostat would need to collect more detailed data – more detailed digit level UIS has excluded ICH from total to align with Eurostat methodology

THANK YOU!
