Reconstruction Amendments
13th Amendment The first Reconstruction Amendment ended slavery in the US. This is a poster created after the Civil War to celebrate the end of slavery in all of the United States. Amendment XIII (Student read from pg 25)

14th Amendment This amendment gave African Americans citizenship. This image shows a black man and a white man showing that they are equal citizens of the United States. Amendment XIV (Student read from pg 25)
Continued… Designed to protect the political and social rights of freedmen, from intimidation. It overturned the Dred Scott Decision by recognizing African American’s as citizens It upheld the rights of all citizens to “equal protection” before the laws and “due process” of law
15th Amendment This amendment granted the right to vote to all men 21 and older. This image shows African Americans exercising their right to vote. Amendment XV (Student read from pg 27)
Continued… This Amendment’s purpose was to ensure all men from the North and South had the right to vote without being discriminated against by “race, creed, or previous condition of servitude.”
