You might ask: What would you like to drink? Was möchtest du trinken?

The response might be: I would like to drink a mineral water. Ich möchte ein Mineralwasser trinken.

Ask about another person: What would Holger like to drink? Was möchte Holger trinken?

The response might be: He would like at moment nothing. Er möchte im Moment gar nichts.

To offer several friends something to eat, you might ask: What would you like to eat? Was möchtet ihr essen?
