Objectives To examine methods for entering text. To demonstrate techniques for formatting text. To identify procedures for inserting and formatting WordArt.

Text Can be added to slides in: title placeholders content placeholders text placeholders Can be entered in these locations by clicking in the placeholder and beginning to type on the keyboard

Placeholders When being edited, display a dashed line border, sizing handles and rotation handle if selected, the border is a solid line

Text In placeholders, is commonly formatted as one of the following: bulleted list multi-level list numbered list To change the format of the list, use the commands in the Paragraph group on the Home tab. Multi-level lists can be created by using the Tab key after pressing the Enter key to move to the next point or the Indent icons in the Paragraph group.

Formatting Text Improves the text’s appearance and readability Can help to: enhance and emphasize text set a tone for the file Can be completed while text is selected or a user can set the formatting prior to typing the text

Formatting Text Commonly includes changing or customizing the text’s: font font size font style font color Font- a complete set of characters in a specific face, style and size Font Style- the slant and weight of the characters in font set Font Size- height of an uppercase letter in font set; measured in points Font Color- the shade of the characters in a font set

Formatting Text Can be completed by using the: Font group on the Home tab Mini toolbar contains many of the same commands which are found in the Font group appears over selected text Paragraph group on the Home tab

Font Group Can be used to change the: font type size style character spacing case color Contains the Clear Formatting button which, if clicked, removes the formatting from the selected text

Paragraph Group Can be used to format: bulleted lists numbered lists indent line spacing alignment columns text direction text box text alignment SmartArt converting text to SmartArt

Format Painter Can be used to copy formatting from one location to another in a presentation Is located on the Home tab in the Clipboard group Requires a user to: select the content with the formatting to be copied click Format Painter select the content which needs the formatting applied

WordArt Is decorative text which can be added to a document Can be added by clicking the WordArt icon in the Text group on the Insert tab and choosing an option from the menu

WordArt When selected, makes the Drawing Tools section appear on the Ribbon and contains the Format tab this tab can be used to format WordArt It is important to note, the text entered in a text box, shape or WordArt can be formatted using the commands on the Home tab related to text or on the shortcut menu.

Design Tools Format Tab Contains the following groups: Insert Shapes add another shape, edit the shape by changing points, changing the shape or draw a text box Shape Styles apply a premade style, add a shape fill, outline or effect WordArt Styles apply premade WordArt styles, specify a text fill, outline or effect to be applied
