Once chapter 1 Date: Objectives Convey reading plan and start reading chapter one Answer questions for the purpose of a closer reading and comparison for Junior Cert. Warm –up – A4 Pad – get reading journal “Once I was living in an orphanage in the mountains and I shouldn’t have been”. Write down this quote and a response. (What do you think, remember, feel – one or two sentences)

17 chapters – average 10 pages each. Reading Plan 17 chapters – average 10 pages each. Warm-up - Read chapter in class – questions. If questions finished in class, no homework. Important note: Oral exam includes reading aloud – practise that during these readings.

Reading pages 1-8 8 pages – 8 readers Green card to person who reads best aloud before my time as your teacher is over. Tips Read forward – not down (aim your voice) Proper posture (sitting up) opens your diaphragm, an umbrella-like muscle which helps you talk loud. Slow pace, pause at full stops and commas for breath. Relax, getting nervous affects your voice (Make funny face me)
