Hebrews 11:13-16 Died in faith Having seen the promises Embraced them Confessed strangers on earth Declare plainly that they seek a Homeland Desire a better, heavenly country Have a city prepared for them by God

Noah Adam & Eve All flesh corrupted “Their way” Be fruitful Fill the earth Subdue it Have dominion All flesh corrupted “Their way” God starts creation over Noah found Grace Be fruitful, multiply

After Noah Noah Ham Cush Nimrod (Mighty Hunter) King of Babel One speech, language, Nation Not want to be scattered abroad

Noah II Peter 3:4-15 II Peter 2:4-5 I Peter 3:18-21

Why did God choose Noah? Hebrews 11:7 Divinely warned of things not seen Moved with Godly fear Prepared an ark for saving of souls

Leaving God’s Righteousness A name for yourself To be known from afar A desire for a lasting reputation Glory for self Exchange of God’s command Pride that you know what is better

Genesis 14:1 Abram King Amraphel King Arioch King Chedarloamer Shinar King Arioch Ellaser King Chedarloamer Elam King Tidal Goyium King Bera Sodom King Birsha Gomorrah King Shinab Admah King Shembar Zeboiim King of Bela (Zoar)

Abram becomes Abraham God Confuses languages Men spread to become ‘Nations’ (City-states) God told Abram to “Get out” v12:1 4 kings defeat 5 kings Abram defeats 4 kings Abram retrieves Lot Abram does not have an Heir or Land God makes promises to Abram

Romans 4:1-12 What did he find? Boasting? God did not owe Abram anything How accounted? When? Abram is the father of those who walk in the steps of faith Righteousness is of faith that it might be according to grace

Why did God choose Abram? God wanted His name on the earth He was choosing a nation to build 12:4 He went out when God said 15:6 He believed God He did not doubt, question or change what God said

Conclusion God wants us to “Get Out” He does not want us to exchange His commands for what we think is better He wants to give us His Righteousness He wants us to walk in His commands

Conclusion II Peter 3:13 New earth/heaven in which Righteousness dwells II Peter 3:14 Look forward to these things, & Be diligent to be found without spot and blameless God knows the pursuits of “Self-righteousness” that lead to Rebellion God is our Shield, Reward and has Promised that we are heirs of His Righteousness
