Presentation transcript:

Heat By Alexander and tom

True or false: Heat is a form of energy Yes heat is a form of energy because things that have energy give off heat.

Name some of the ways that people use heat For cooking. To warm people up. To help people stay alive. For barbecues. To burn stuff.

What is earth’s most important source of heat? The earths most important source of heat is the sun because it gives heat to the world.

What is thermal energy? Thermal energy is energy that comes from heat.

How is Temperature measured? We measure temperature with a thermometer because it’s the most accurate. If you don’t use a thermometer it won’t be accurate.

Give an example of a conductor Metal because it won’t melt.

Why does ice melt in a glass of water? The warm energy gets into the ice an the ice melts.

What happens to the liquid in a thermometer if it is heated? The liquid rises to a temperature, because it tries to expand but it rises, because It can’t expand.

True or False: Most liquids and solids expand when the are heated Some things do some don’t because most solids burn, but liquids do, because heat causes the molecules to move faster so the liquid expands.
