Standards-Based IEPs Purpose Timeline Overview of Modules Train the Trainer Online learning and training modules Purpose Module 1 IEP Overview –A Plan for Guiding Instruction and Service Provision Module 2 General Education Curriculum Expectations Module 3 Present Levels of Academic Achievement and Functional Performance Module 4 Writing Next Generation-Linked IEP Goals Timeline July 1, 2014 – Implement Standards-Based IEPs The purpose of this training is to outline a process for developing Standards-Based IEPs. The training is divided into four modules, each devoted to a specific topic pertaining to the development of Standards-Based IEPs. Module 1 is an overview of the basic standards-based IEP process and rationale. Module 2 is an overview of the Next Generation Content Standards and Objectives and Next Generation Essential and Community Elements. The process of unwrapping standards and the shifts in classroom instruction are reviewed. Module 3 focuses on the Present Levels of Academic Achievement and Functional Performance. Module 4 is devoted to writing measurable goals and objectives linked to the Next Generation Content Standards and Objectives. This is a Training of Trainers (T of T) model, and it will be up to each district to determine how to most effectively use it. The modules may be presented over a period of time or all at once depending on how many activities are included. Timing for each model will run between 30 minutes to 1.5 hour depending on the number of activities the trainer utilizes. Modules 1-4
