Element Identification Chart = Hydrogen White Use the Periodic Table in your agenda book to match the element to it’s chemical symbol. You can then use the symbols to write out the chemical formula for each station. Be careful to identify what is connected and what is not. Chemical bonds are made using the small white sticks. If there is no stick then there is no chemical bond. That way you can determine what is just an element, what is a compound and what might be a mixture. = Oxygen Red = Carbon Yellow = Sodium Green = Chlorine Black Possible compound and mixture names for identification Water = H20 Carbon Dioxide = CO2 Salt = NaCl Sodium Pyrite = NaFe Iron Chloride = Fe3ClO Nitrous Oxide = NO2 Iron Oxide = Fe2O3 Methane = CH4 Propane = C3H8 Sodium Hydroxide = NaOH Chlorine Gas = Cl2 Chloride Gas = CL3 Steel = Iron and Carbon Acid Rain = Carbon Dioxide and Water Carbon Monixide = CO Salt Water = Salt and Water Ammonia = NH3 Baking Soda = NaCHO3 Brass = Copper and Zinc Acetylene = C2H2 = Iron Orange = Nitrogen Blue
