There is an expectation in education to ensure that every student is college and career ready. The foundation and history of school counseling in Utah is Career Literacy. Career Literacy is the basic knowledge and skills that students need to navigate the world of work. It involves a holistic approach that helps students to understand a range of career fields, multiple entry and exit points for various occupations, and strategies for career development and advancement. The Career Literacy process transforms the student mindset to enable them to make more informed decisions regarding their career pathway.

Certificate Program for SC Component Three Through online coursework developed by Utah State Board of Education with an advisory group of individuals from business and industry. Component Three focuses on helping students become career ready to meet the demands of Utah's economy. Work-Based Learning Staff and School Counselor benefit from this coursework.
