8th Grade Florida Science FCAT 2.0

Test Breakdown There is a maximum of 66 test questions. The 2017 test had 56 questions. There are different forms of the test. It’s a paper based test The test is administered in two 80 min sessions. For 8th Grade this means one test day with 160 minutes. It’s entirely multiple choice. Tests knowledge from 6th-8th grade.

What’s on the test? The subject areas tested on the FCAT 2.0: The Nature of Science- approximately 19% of the test Earth and Space Science- approximately 27% of the test Physical Science- approximately 27% of the test Life Science- approximately 27% of the test

The Heavily Tested Standards Scientific experiments and how they are setup as well as their components makeup the majority of the questions in the Nature of Science category.

The Heavily Tested Standards Planetary motion, phases of the moon, climate, the rock cycle, and plate tectonics are the areas tested most under the Earth Space and Science section.

The Heavily Tested Standards Basic chemistry, heat and energy flow, energy transformations, and forces are tested the most in the physical sciences category.

The Heavily Tested Standards Ecology, evolution, biogeochemical cycles, genetics, and body systems are the items most tested in Life Science.

Take Note While that is just one format of the test, the areas of 8th grade Science FCAT 2.0 that are heavily tested remain the same. Students should be studying and reviewing content now at home in preparation for the test. Because this tests the knowledge of all middle school science reviewing at home is essential.
