نظرية الإطفاء أجزاء الطفاية أنواع الطفايات استخدام الطفاية FIRE CLASSIFICATION - Class ‘B’ Class ‘C’ (flammable liquid and electrical) fires DESCRIPTION Carbon Dioxide extinguishers are filled with non-flammable carbon dioxide gas under extreme pressure. You can recognize a CO2 extinguisher by its hard horn and lack of pressure gauge. The pressure in the cylinder is so great that when you use one of these extinguishers, bits of dry ice may shoot out the horn. CO2 cylinders are red. SIZE - 10 Pounds – 4.5 Kilograms OPERATION Aim the discharge horn at the base of flames and keep the cloud of CO2 moving across the area of the fire. How far will the CO2 stream reach? The horizontal range of the CO2 extinguishing stream is limited to a range of 3 to 10 feet. How long will it take to use up the 10 pounds of CO2? The approximate time of discharge for the 10 pounds of CO2 ranges from 8 to 30 seconds.   Once activated, can a CO2 extinguisher be shut off? Yes, stop squeezing the trigger and the stream of CO2 will stop. This may be appropriate if you must reposition yourself in relation to the fire. How does the CO2 put out a fire? Carbon dioxide extinguishers work by displacing oxygen, or taking away the “oxygen” element of the fire triangle (smothering). The carbon dioxide is also very cold as it comes out of the extinguisher, so it provides limited cooling of the fuel as well. As the CO2 gas is expelled it turns into a cloud of dry ice, commonly referred to as "snow". What are the advantages and disadvantages of CO2 fire extinguishers? ADVANTAGES CO2 is clean, non-corrosive, and leaves no residue on expensive computers and electronic or electrical equipment. Ideal for modern offices, electronic risks, and fires caused by the combustion of liquids such as oils, fats, solvents etc. DISADVANTAGES The extinguishers are heavy, 20 pounds, and they have short discharge ranges. CO2 can be harmful if used in a confined space, parts of the extinguisher may cause dry ice burns. CO2s may be ineffective at extinguishing Class A fires because they may not be able to displace enough oxygen to successfully put the fire out. Class A materials may also smolder and re-ignite. BC DRY CHEMICAL EXTINGUISHERS BC rated dry chemical extinguisher use sodium bicarbonate as an extinguishing agent. They are not rated to handle Class ‘A’ fires. However, they may have a limited affect on Class ‘A’ fires. BC dry chemical extinguishers are similar to and operated the same as the multipurpose ABC dry chemical extinguisher covered in the next slide. أجزاء الطفاية أنواع الطفايات استخدام الطفاية احتياطات الطفاية بطانية الحريق
