WWI Overview

Why is WWI Important? WWI is viewed as one of the most important conflicts in world history. Mostly because itt was unexpected, it seemd to explode from nowhere. The length of the conflict was longer than expected. It directly causes the build up and rise of Hitler and WWII.

Why was WWI a different war? The fighting was more brutal than ever before. You have the first use of trench warfare. First use of Chemical weapons. And just the meare number of casualties. Over 15 million dead Over 22 million wounded 8 million missing In one Battle alone (Battle of the Somme) Lasted 6 months 1 million dead 60,000 wounded on the first day of fighting

Who were the important player in WWI? Location: Primarily Europe Also North Africa and India Years: 1914-1919 Participants: Germany, Austria-Hungary, Italy, France, Russia, Britain and the US. Triple Alliance- Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Italy. Italy drops when the Alliance becomes the Central Powers bringing in the ottoman Empire nations and Bulgaria. Triple Entente- England, Russia and France The US and Japan join and they become the Allied Powers.
