Location Section of Gull Lake Dam Road Between Gull Lake Campground Entrance and T- intersection of Gull Lake Dam Road/Cty Road 105

Embankment Project 1600 tons of rip rap placed to stabilize toe Project completed in 10 days by Corps Maintenance Crew Example of successful partnership with Cass County and City of East Gull Lake

Road License with the City of East Gull Lake This section of roadway is on federal property under Corps stewardship. The City of East Gull Lake is the road authority responsible for maintenance of the roadway surface. Corps has had a license with the City dating back to 1926 License does not meet current standards and needs to be updated

Process/TIMELINE Corps will decide whether or not to close this section of road to through traffic this winter If a decision is made to close the road, the Corps would terminate the roadway license with the City of East Gull Lake between 2022 and 2024. If a decision is made to keep the roadway open, the Corps would work with the City of East Gull Lake and Cass County to create an easement that meets current standards.

Options Corps identified concerns in a March 2018 letter to the City of East Gull Lake, suggesting that the city look into alternate routes for potential road relocation The City of East Gull Lake’s planning effort is pending receipt of the Corps’ decision whether to terminate the license and close a portion of Gull Lake Dam Road, tentatively winter 2018/2019.

Summary We understand the importance of this road to the community, local businesses and tribes, which is why we are taking our time to receive input from everyone that may be impacted. Our evaluation has just begun, and we’re actively engaging with local officials and tribal representatives to identify alternatives before a decision is made this winter. Want to submit a comment?
